Born 1953 and educated in Jersey. Moved to the UK with family at the age of 14, completed a six-year trade apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery. Progressed to general construction/business management and attended Bristol University obtaining a diploma in Management studies and has worked for 46 years in the construction industry on varied range of projects at Director level including, public sector; hospitals and schools, specialist restoration projects; Castles Cathedrals and Parish Churches, Commercial; industrial units business parks.

Philip returned to Jersey at the age of 42 with his family and continued working in the local construction/property development sector until he retired in October 2014 on being elected Connetable of Trinity.
