JOA supports local, Jersey-based charities working overseas. This is preferably on the basis of matching funding on a pound-for-pound  basis, with a usual maximum of £5,000 per project.

JOA will give consideration to larger grants for Jersey charities which are able to demonstrate long-term relationships with beneficiary communities and the capacity to manage and account for such spending.

JOA will give preference to projects located in the bottom 50 countries ranked on the Human Development Index. A local charity may not apply for emergency and disaster relief funding.

To be eligible the Jersey Charity must demonstrate good governance and financial oversight. Jersey charities may apply for more than one grant per year, and there is no limit to the number of grants a Jersey Charity may apply for.

As with all our grantees, it is particularly important that applicants give serious consideration as to how they select and monitor any local partners they might be working with.

The application form for funding may be downloaded below. Applicants should also complete the MANGO financial health check for their own charity and any partner charities they are working with.
